Media Unit
My clients wanted to have a modern look, while still using natural materials and finishes for their new media unit in their new home. One key design constraint was that there had to be ample 'floating' shelving that had recessed LED lighting in it for displaying their personal artifacts; this was a bit of an engineering challenge due to the fact that it is made from solid wood and that there could be no visible wires or hangers. Nevertheless it all came together to create this piece that the clients were thrilled with. In order for remotes to work for their media components, I decided to go with cut outs for the pulls on the cupboard fronts as opposed to conventional knobs or handles, allowing all of their devices to be controlled while the doors are shut.
